It’s hard for me to believe, that over half a century ago I was in this same spot, looking, for the first time, at the Statue of Liberty. That was the day that my mom, my sister and I entered New York Harbor for the first time. To me, a mere child, it was a magical vision, this statue of a large lady welcoming me to my new country. I, of course, have visited this statue on many occasions but it has been some time since I had this same view. The waters are not the same; this country is not the same and I’m certainly not the same person I was at the time, but the Statue of Liberty is still there with the same welcoming gesture. I still felt the goose bumps as I had so many years before.
