Everyone knows that the Maine coastline is very rocky. Recently, on a boat trip to Monhegan Island, I realized that rocky has many variations. Here, on the northernmost side, the side facing the ocean, the coast is very rocky and basically impossible to climb – at least it was for me! Monhegan island is twelve miles from Booth Bay harbor and has no paved roads but plenty of hiking paths. Well worth a visit if you’re in that area of Maine. # Maine coast, Monhegan Island, # rocky coasts
