Here are two beautiful glaciers that I was fortunate enough to see in Alaska.
The first, in Juneau, was accessible by a 45 minute hike and included a waterfall on the right. The second and larger glacier was accessible only by water in Glacier Bay. I remember being here 23 years ago and this glacier was a bit larger as glaciers are shrinking all the time.
It is mind boggling to consider that the water/ice/snow in these glaciers helped create this massive beauty before we were born; might I say even before Alaska was “discovered”. As we sailed through Glacier Bay, we were told by the ranger who was giving a most impressive and knowledgeable history of the area, that the whole bay, a few miles long, was once covered by this glacier. It felt like being in the past, here, in Alaska.
